Ethics for Nerds is our response to the observation that computer science affects our modern society and will shape the society of the future. The lecture is addressed to computer science students, teaching them basics from moral philosophy and the philosophical methodology. Furthermore, we confront them with recent and foreseeable effects of computer science-based research and products. It covers questions of privacy, persuasive tech, responsible decision-making in the age of augmentation by models, and fundamental issues of research ethics, like dual-use problematics.

Ethics for Nerds was proposed repeatedly for the Saarlandian Landespreis Hochschullehre, was awarded Hochschulperle des Monats Januar 2019 by the Stifterverband, and recently became Hochschulperle des Jahres 2019!
